Companies use British artists and designers in areas such as branding, web design, illustration, packaging design, film special effects, advertising, computer game design (Grand theft Auto, Tomb Raider and many others are actually British!) and many other areas.

AS

Component 1 – Coursework Portfolio
You will produce a portfolio of work, through studying contemporary and historic Graphic design sources, using a variety of media/materials with emphasis on use of ICT, to develop your own personal style and produce your own responses.

Component 2 – Externally set Assignment
You will produce a body of work related to a topic chosen from an exam question and complete a final piece of work over one day.

A2

Component 1 – Personal Investigation
You will produce a personal investigation of a certain aspect of Graphic Design which you have chosen. This includes your own design work within a chosen specialism, focussing on your own area of expertise developed at AS and a written element of at least 1000 words; this can be in the form of notes relating your work to that of other Designers

Component 2 – Externally set Assignment
You will produce a body of work related to a topic chosen from an exam question and complete a final piece of work over three days.

Entry Requirements

Grade 5 and above in Graphics or Art GCSE
